Kudos to the SAIOHM team from the Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences, SSSIHL, Anantapur campus for winning the Second prize in the Novelidea/Product showcasing session at “FortiSF2024, a Workshop for FRK Manufactures & Blenders and a Symposium on Technological Advancements in Staple Food Fortification” on February 22nd and 23rd, 2024. The event was organized by the Innovation Hub on Rice Fortification (IHRF), Agricultural and Food Engineering Department of IIT Kharagpur.
Their winning presentation, titled “Poshak+ – Double fortified red rice high-protein fudge/burfi,” led by Prof. N. Srividya and supported by research scholar Ms. Sai Sruthi Shree, captivated the audience with its innovative approach. The presentation highlighted the novelty, scientific rationale, and distinctive features of their fortified red rice formulation, showcased through aesthetically packaged product. In addition to the accolade, the team was awarded a certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 3000.
Furthermore, their paper titled “Nutritional Evaluation of Bioprocess Based Fortified Indian Traditional Pigmented Rice Varieties to Address Iron Deficiency Anemia,” presented by Ms. Sai Sruthi Shree, garnered further recognition during the technical session-4 on ‘Nutrition and health aspects of fortified staple foods,’ earning her a certificate and a memento.
The expert panel members lauded the team’s efforts and encouraged scaling up the project through collaborative ventures, underscoring the importance of their pioneering work in addressing nutritional challenges.
