Dr. S Balasubramanian

Overview

Dr. S Balasubramanian is a teacher par excellence and an avid researcher. His research expertise lies in the field of Deep Learning (DL) and machine learning (ML) for computer vision. He has an oral paper in ICLR (ICLR 2020), one of the most coveted conference in the field of DL. He also has a score of publications in the field of ML and DL for computer vision. He also has keen interest in mathematics for DL, particularly applications of differential geometry to DL.

He graduated from Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL) with a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics in 1999. He pursued his masters in Mathematics and then went on to complete his M.Tech. in Computer Science in 2003 from SSSIHL. He then joined SSSIHL as a Lecturer in 2004. Alongside, he also pursued his Ph.D. in Computer Science in the field of Medical Image Processing and completed it in 2008. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Dept. of Mathematics and Computer Science (DMACS), SSSIHL.
