Eminent Scientist and astrophysicist Padma Vibhushan Dr. K. Kasturirangan will deliver the S G Sundaraswamy Memorial Lecture, at the Prasanthi Nilayam Campus of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning on Saturday, 01 October 2022. Dr. K. Kasturirangan, currently Chancellor, Central University of Rajasthan, held various positions at ISRO during his tenure of 35 years including nearly 10 years as its Chairman, from 1994-2003.
Dr. K. Kasturirangan worked on the design and development of early satellite systems of ISRO and played a key role in shaping India’s remote sensing satellite capabilities. He has wide-ranging interests in space science applications, technologies, national and international science-related policies, and legal regimes. More recently, he played an important role in drafting the New Education Policy as the Chairman of the committee. He is a recipient of several awards and recognitions including the Padma Vibhushan in 2000 from the President of India.
He will be addressing the SSSIHL fraternity on the topic ‘Evolution of Space Science in India’ as part of the S G Sundaraswamy Memorial Lecture, held annually by SSSIHL.
The S G Sundaraswamy Memorial Lecture is an annual endowment lecture at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (Deemed-to-be-University) instituted in honour of the late Sri S G Sundaraswamy—a doyen of the legal profession in Bengaluru, by his son, Sri S S Naganand, Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (Public Charitable Trust), Sri Sathya Sai Sadhana Trust and Sri Sathya Sai Media Foundation.
Dr. K. Kasturirangan’s memorial lecture on space science will also be a prelude to the World Space Week 2022 celebrations set to be kicked off on the 4 October 2022.
