National Space Day 2024 Celebrations at SSSIHL
Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL) marked the historic National Space Day 2024 on August 23rd with a series of engaging and educational events across its campuses. In alignment with the declaration by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, this day commemorates India’s achievements in space exploration, including the successful landing of Chandrayaan-III on the moon’s southern polar region.
The Department of Physics at the Prasanthi Nilayam and Anantapur campuses, along with their respective Space and Physics Clubs, led the celebrations. Students and faculty participated in a wide range of activities aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of space science and India’s space missions.
The events kicked-off with an elocution competition, followed by a highly engaging space quiz that tested participants’ knowledge of astronomy, ISRO, and space technology. At Prasanthi Nilayam, students presented insightful talks and multimedia presentations on ISRO’s Chandrayaan missions, while at Anantapur, students explored the lives of renowned space scientists.
A planetarium show titled “Supermassive Black Holes: Uncovering the Invisible” captured the imagination of the audience, providing a window into the mysteries of the cosmos. The celebrations also featured a digital exhibition showcasing India’s pioneering space missions and a stargazing event that allowed students to observe the lunar surface and constellations through telescopes.
The National Space Day celebrations at SSSIHL exemplified the institute’s commitment to nurturing scientific curiosity and inspiring the next generation of space scientists and engineers.
