Vision Statement

Mathematical modeling and analysis have been providing practically implementable solutions for societal benefits in general. Quantification of the data gathered and blending it with methods and models, and creating innovative solutions for society is one of interest of mathematicians for centuries in India and in the world. The proposed consortium intends to focus on and emphasize research and discovery with the primary objective of promoting societal applications. The goal of this consortium is to promote public well-being through the results of the research. This consortium promotes translation research with the end goal of using the scientific knowledge acquired for the benefit of fellowmen.

Executive Summary

The proposed consortium will

  • Establish a collaborative interdisciplinary culture between different communities through continuous dialogue, interactions and exchange of ideas between members of consortium.
  • To create opportunities for training, education, and mentorship among and between participants through specialized workshops and focused conferences/symposia that place emphasis on the societal research.
  • To promote and support the establishment of systematic and sustainable interdisciplinary international research collaborations based on common interests and shared expertise.

Aims and Objectives of the consortium

This research consortium will carry out the plan of building the interdisciplinary culture among the member institutions in a readily linked to the specific research problems. This network will foster community engagement in epidemiological and ecological research.

Thus outcomes of this network can be judged by the following realization of the objectives

  • To expose faculty and students at various institutions to research conducted in the areas of mathematical biology in general
  • To enhance collaborative research efforts and networking opportunities amongst the participating Institutes
  • To incorporate team-based research projects and study groups that mentors a steady pipeline of students

The proposal aims to provide opportunities to carry out cutting-edge research aimed at addressing major societal issues

Proposed Activities of the consortium

  • It is proposed to have a series of virtual talks from different members of the consortium as on outreach to the wider scientific community with a frequency of one talk in a month.
  • It is proposed to have research presentation by members from medical/Industry or allied fields and a follow up discussion amongst the members of the consortium for possible solutions and collaborations with the other science members. This can help in the Inter Disciplinary research aspect which is one of the primary objectives of this consortium. The frequency of these sessions can be once in a month.
  • After the finalization of zone wise coordinators it is proposed to have certain activities as zone wise across India.
  • We envisage that this consortium in due course of time to become a resource pool for researchers in Mathematical Biology and evolve into a focused research hub in socially relevant Inter Disciplinary research.
