In the present day world, the need of the hour is to integrate expertise from different departments to transform it into translational research or directed basic research. RESEARCH SPOTLIGHT

Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL) has identified thrust areas of research around which several research projects and studies are designed, cutting across traditional subject boundaries. The research activities of faculty and students at SSSIHL envision exploration and promotion of socially relevant, rural-friendly, translational research encompassing three domains – Health, Environment and Energy. RESEARCH FACILITIES

SSSIHL gives doctoral students access to world-class research infrastructure. This includes core facilities and laboratories at SSSIHL Central Research Instruments Facility and SSSIHL Central Research Laboratory, and access to highly experienced research guides across all departments.

RESEARCH GROWTH

The research output at SSSIHL has seen a significant rise in the past few years. The number of doctoral research scholars has seen a tremendous increase in last four years. The five science departments, viz. Mathematics & Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biosciences and Food & Nutritional Sciences are increasingly pursuing research collaborations with premier external Institutions such as IISc., IITs, Bayer College of Medicine (USA), Uppsala University (Sweden), etc. Visit our Research Overview page for the full list of Collaborators.

In addition, collaborative research projects with Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences (SSSIHMS) are a testimonial to the rise in the quality of research at the Institute.

INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH

Interdisciplinary research is indispensable for academic innovation. It brings together different minds, across various disciplines, and encourages emerging areas to converge and together make an impact on any programme.

In order to foster this ambience for interdisciplinary research at the Institute, an Interdisciplinary Science Colloquium has been initiated (several years ago) to provide an opportunity for Doctoral Research Scholars and the Teaching Faculty —involving the departments of Physics, Chemistry, Biosciences and Food & Nutritional Sciences—to share their research experiences with fellow researchers. This has facilitated the promotion and consolidation of their knowledge base. Besides, it has also proved to be an effective optimal method of sharing available resources for research.

The University has taken giant strides in this direction of interdisciplinary research by collaborating with top-notch institutions, both within the country and abroad.

The eligibility requirements vary for each programme. Kindly visit the Doctoral Research Admissions page to check the general and programme-specific eligibility requirements. Additionally, you can refer to the Academic Regulations for SSSIHL Ph.D. programmes for detailed guidelines and processes of the SSSIHL Ph.D. programme.

Candidates who do not meet all the admissions criteria listed for the programme they apply to will not be eligible for admissions. Their applications will not be processed by the Admissions Office and they will be notified accordingly via email.

THE COMPLETE LIST OF SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS TO BE UPLOADED ALONG WITH YOUR APPLICATION
All documents uploads must be clear, legible and attested (where required). Failure to meet these requirements may result in your application being rejected.

1) One passport-sized photograph
Latest photograph of the applicant in the prescribed format mentioned in the application form

2) Statement of marks

• Self-attested (by the applicant) photocopies of the Statement of Marks for X Std. issued by your Higher Secondary School Board
• Self-attested (by the applicant) photocopies of the Statement of Marks for XII Std. issued by your Higher Secondary School Board
• Self-attested (by the applicant) photocopies of the Statement of Marks for Bachelor’s Degree issued by the authority (University/College/Institution) which conducted the Qualifying Examinations leading to your Final degree.
• Self-attested (by the applicant) photocopies of the Statement of Marks for Master’s Degree issued by the authority (University/College/Institution) which conducted the Qualifying Examinations leading to your Final degree.
• Self-attested (by the applicant) photocopies of the Statement of Marks for M.Phil. Degree (If applicable) issued by the authority (University/College/Institution) which conducted the Qualifying Examinations leading to your Final degree.

3) Application fee receipt
A copy of the application fee payment receipt. Please ensure the DU Ref. Number is visible.

4) Photo identification proof
A copy of any Government approved Photo ID, such as your Aadhaar card

5) For SC/ST/OBC applicants
A self-attested copy of the caste certificate

6) For EWS applicants
A self-attested copy of the valid EWS certificate

7) Relevant copies of certificates of UGC/JRF, CSIR/NET, GATE/GEST etc., (if applicable)
Attach a self-attested copy if you have any.

Follow the steps below to submit your application successfully.

First, visit the Apply Online page.
Next, follow the steps below to ensure that you successfully Register you application:

• Click on the relevant link provided for Men and Women separately on the Apply Online page to access the Application forms
• Create an account by registering yourself (Applicant) using a valid email ID
• Use the credentials received in your email inbox to login into your account
• Click the ‘New Application’ button
• Choose Ph.D. from ‘Application Type’ field
• Choose the Admission year as ‘2024-25’
• Choose the default Program type given in the dropdown
• Choose the Term as ‘Semester-1’
• Click on ‘Start Applying’
• Review the important information and eligibility criteria given on the first page
• Make a payment of Rs. 200/- towards the application fee using the SBI Collect link provided in the form (Under Primary Information)
• Choose the department you wish to apply to – and add the 3 preferred areas of research
• Fill in the rest of the form and make sure to attach the necessary documents
• After submission, you may view/print your application form using the link provided on your login page
• All your information is transmitted through a secure server and is kept fully confidential. Your application information and accompanying credentials are reviewed only by authorised representatives of the Institute.

Once you have successfully completed your application form, wait to hear from the Institute in regards to the outcome of your application.

Note: All notifications during the entire admissions application process from SSSIHL to applicants will be via email. This is the email address (email ID) that you are registered with.

Shortly after the admissions applications are closed, the Institute will upload the final list of all applicants chosen for the next step of the application process – on merit, per programme – on the Admissions List page. The selected individuals (on the list) will also receive an email confirming this.

DOCTORAL RESEARCH Programmes

There is an admissions test for all applicants. Applications will be shortlisted based on merit. The shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend an online interview.

Once the you have submitted your application form and attended the test and/or interview, the University will publish the list of selected candidates on the Admissions Lists page.

Congratulations! If you make it to this stage, you have got a place to study at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning.

Prasanthi Nilayam is the name of the ashram established by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. It is also the name of the main campus of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning. It is located in Puttaparthi, in Sri Sathya Sai District, Andhra Pradesh.

• Self-attested (by the applicant) photocopies of the Statement of Marks for X Std. issued by your Higher Secondary School Board
• Self-attested (by the applicant) photocopies of the Statement of Marks for XII Std. issued by your Higher Secondary School Board
• Self-attested (by the applicant) photocopies of the Statement of Marks (along with the final degree certificate) of all semesters/years issued by the authority (University/College/Institution) which conducted the Qualifying Examinations leading to your Final degree.

Note: If you have just finished your final exams or are about to take them, please upload final mark sheets for all the years preceding the final year. If your institution follows a semester system, please upload exam mark sheets for all semesters preceding the final semester.

3) Application fee receipt
A copy of the application fee payment receipt. Please ensure the DU Ref. Number is visible.

4) Photo identification proof

• Make a payment of Rs. 100/- towards the application fee using the SBI Collect link provided in the form (Under Primary Information)
• Fill in the rest of the form and make sure to attach the necessary documents
• After submission, you may view/print your application form using the link provided on your login page
• All your information is transmitted through a secure server and is kept fully confidential. Your application information and accompanying credentials are reviewed only by authorised representatives of the Institute.

Once you have successfully completed your application form, wait to hear from the Institute in regards to the outcome of your application.

Important: The second stage of the application process varies from programme to programme. Kindly check the individual Eligibility Criteria for the programme that you have applied for to see the specific next step for that programme. This can be an interview only, test and interview, Technical Viva Voce, Group Discussion, etc.

UNDERGRADUATE Programmes

There is no admissions test for all Undergraduate programmes. Applications will be shortlisted based on merit. The shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend an online interview.

Applicants for the Diploma in Music programme will be required to take a Music Aptitude test.
Applicants for the B.P.A. in Music programme will be required to take a Music Aptitude and Competency test.

POSTGRADUATE Programmes
There is no admissions test for all Postgraduate programmes. Applications will be shortlisted based on merit. The shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend an online interview.

PROFESSIONAL Programmes
B.Ed. Programme: There is no admissions test. Applications will be shortlisted based on merit. The shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend an online interview.

M.B.A. Programme: Eligible applicants will be asked to take an online admissions test. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited for an offline Group discussion and an interview.
Applicants with valid score in CAT, CMAT or XAT are exempted from the admissions test and will be invited directly for the offline Group Discussion round, followed by an interview.

M.Tech. Programmes: Eligible applicants will be asked to take an online admissions test. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited for an offline Technical Viva Voce, followed by an interview.
Applicants with a valid GATE/CSIR/JEST score in relevant fields are exempted from the admissions test and will be invited directly for the Technical Viva Voce round, followed by an interview.

Once the you have submitted your application form and attended the test, interview, group discussion and/or the Technical Viva Voce round (these vary depending on the depending on the programme you have applied for), the University will publish the list of selected candidates on the Admissions Lists page.

Congratulations! If you make it to this stage, you have got a place to study at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning.
