Key University Officers
Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba is the Revered Founder Chancellor of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (Deemed to be University).
Chancellor
Sri K Chakravarthi
The Chancellor of the Institute is appointed by the Trust. He typically holds office for a period of five years. When present, the Chancellor presides over the convocations of the university but is not the Chief Executive Officer.
Where power is conferred upon the Chancellor to nominate persons to authorities, he, to the extent necessary, nominates persons to represent the various interests for the furtherance of the objectives of the Institute.
Sri Krishnamachari Chakravarthi (born 25 May 1936), took charge as the fourth Chancellor, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, on 18 June 2018.
Sri Chakravarthi, after completing his university education in Economics, joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1960, and was borne on the cadre of the then unified state of Andhra Pradesh, where he held various positions, such as Collector of Anantapur district, Finance Secretary (Projects), Commissioner of Relief, Commissioner of Commercial taxes, etc.
With Blessings of our Revered Founder Chancellor, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, he has been in Prashanti Nilayam since 1981, when he was appointed as the first Registrar of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning; a position that he held until 1994. During this period, he diligently established tangible administrative and academic procedures and helped take the University on the right path as envisioned by our Beloved Founder Chancellor.
Along with the first Vice Chancellor, Prof. V K Gokak, he was instrumental in introducing the unique ‘Sri Sathya Sai System of Integral Education’ under the Divine guidance of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
Later, Sri Chakravarthi was associated with the implementation of Sri Sathya Sai Drinking Water Supply project in Anantapur District as a Coordinator, on behalf of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust. He then was appointed as Secretary, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust by Bhagawan Baba. He continued to function as such and later assumed responsibility as a Member Secretary of the Board of Trustees, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, where he has made major contributions to several initiatives of the Trust in the areas of medicare, educare and sociocare.
Vice-Chancellor
Prof. B. Raghavendra Prasad
The Vice-Chancellor is the principal Academic Head and principal Executive Officer of the Institute, and he exercises general control over its affairs. He is a full-time Officer. The Vice-Chancellor, by virtue of his Office, is a member and Chairman of the Board of Management, the Academic Council, the Faculties and Finance Committee, and will preside at the meetings thereof. He will exercise all such powers as may be delegated to him under the Rules of the Institute.
Prof. B. Raghavendra Prasad assumed charge as the 12th Vice-Chancellor of SSSIHL on 01 June 2023.
A proud alumnus of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (Deemed to be University), Prasanthi Nilayam, Prof. B. Raghavendra Prasad joined the Department of Physics at the Indian Institute of Science in February 1986 where he worked on a Defense Project of national importance. Upon completion of the project, he joined the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) in 1998.
At IIA, he led several complex astronomy projects such as ‘Fiber-linked High-Resolution Echelle Spectrograph’, ‘Closed-Loop Adaptive Optics’, and multiple space-based astronomy projects. During his tenure at IIA, he established several R&D facilities at IIA and its field stations. He set up Prof. MGK Menon Laboratory for Space Sciences to design, build, test, and calibrate space-based astronomy platforms and was also a lead member of the UVIT-ASTROSAT(ISRO) mission of ISRO.
Prof. B. Raghavendra Prasad was appointed as the Principal Investigator of the VELC-AdityaL1 space solar mission of ISRO. He and his team delivered the primary payload “Visible Emission Line Coronagraph” for India’s first space solar observatory AdityaL1. The AdityaL1 mission is expected to give new insights into understanding the dynamics of our sun and help develop models for space weather prediction and several other areas of Solar Astronomy.
He was Chairman/Member of several scientific committees formed by different R&D institutions, universities, and research funding agencies. In addition, he held several administrative positions as Chairman or Member of selection and assessment committees at IIA and other academic institutions. In these capacities, he has visited several reputed universities and research centers in several countries on academic programmes and is also a Fellow/Member of several professional bodies.
Prof. B. Raghavendra Prasad is an active participant in many of the socially relevant service activities of alumni of SSSIHL over the last 35 years. He is passionate about Sustainable Energy Technologies & Environment and has worked on several initiatives of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust in this domain.
Registrar
Dr. Srikanth Khanna
A full-time Officer of the Institute, the Registrar is the custodian of the records and of the common seal and funds, and other properties of the Institute. He will function as the Secretary of the Board of Management, Academic Council, Finance Committee and the Faculties.
He will represent the Institute in suits or legal proceedings against it, sign powers of attorney, etc. and conduct all official correspondence of the university and its authorities. He will issue notices convening meeting of the authorities of the University and of any Committees appointed by such authorities. He renders such assistance to the Vice-Chancellor in the discharge of his duties as may be desired by him.
Dr. Srikanth Khanna assumed charge as the sixth Registrar of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning on 01 September 2023.
An alumnus, Dr. Srikanth Khanna at the time of his appointment was an Associate Professor in the Dept. of Mathematics & Computer Science which he joined as an Asst. Professor in 2011. His journey at SSSIHL started in 1999 when he enrolled as a student of B.Sc. (Hons.) after completing his studies at the Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School, Prasanthi Nilayam.
Dr. Srikanth Khanna earned his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics in 2002, followed by his M.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics with a specialization in Computer Science in 2004. He further pursued his M.Tech. in Computer Science in 2006, all from Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning. Remarkably, he holds the distinction of receiving a Gold Medal for each of these academic accomplishments. Additionally, he successfully completed his Ph.D. in Image Processing from SSSIHL.
Dr. Srikanth Khanna is also an active researcher in the area of fractional derivative applications in image processing demonstrating a keen interest in Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence.
Controller of Examinations
Dr. G S Srirangarajan
As a full-time Officer, the Controller of Examinations is in-charge of procedures and supervision of all internal evaluation and examinations of the institute. This includes ensuring that all the specific directions of the Board of Management, Academic Council and Vice-Chancellor in respect of examination and evaluation are complied with. He is also a permanent invitee to the Board of Management.
Dr. G S Srirangarajan took charge as the fourth Controller of Examinations of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning on 1 September 2023.
An alumnus of SSSIHL, Dr. G S Srirangarajan graduated from M S Ramaiah College, Bangalore University with a B.E. in Industrial & Production Engineering and then completed his MBA in 1992 and subsequently his Ph.D. in 2017 from Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning.
He joined the Dept. of Management & Commerce at SSSIHL in 1992 where he has played several roles, including the Computer Centre in charge at the Prasanthi Nilayam campus, and the Placement Officer for the University. In 2009, he took up the role of the Controller of Examinations, for a period of seven years and later was the Director of the Brindavan Campus from 2016 to 2019. Notably, at the time of his appointment as the fourth Controller of Examinations, Dr. G S Srirangarajan was concurrently fulfilling his duties as the IQAC Coordinator.
Finance Officer
Sri J Lakshminarasimhaiah
The Finance Officer is responsible for the budgeting and financial accounting of the Institute. As a full-time Officer, the Finance Officer manages the Institute’s funds and investments. His major responsibilities include preparing the Annual Budget and Accounts and presenting them to the Institute’s Board of Management.
He also oversees all financial matters, including financial expenditure as per the rules of the Institute. He is the secretary of the Finance Committee of the Institute and a permanent invitee to the Board of Management.
Sri J Lakshminarasimhaiah took charge as the Finance Officer of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning on 25 February 2022.
He is an experienced professional with thirty years of specialist experience handling Accounts, Taxation, and Finance functions in manufacturing organizations, real estate, and multinational companies.
Sri Lakshminarasimhaiah completed his Chartered Accountancy in 1994 and Cost & Works Accountancy (currently: Cost & Management) in 1995. Before joining SSSIHL, he worked as Vice President, Finance in CapitaLand, Bangalore.
