Prof. R Prabhakara Rao obtained his B.Sc. in Mathematics from the Nagarjuna University in 1981. He did his Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Statistics from Andhra University in 1990. For a brief period, he was CSIR Research Associate and worked as lecturer at the Dept. of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science at the University of Hyderabad. He then joined Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning as a lecturer in 1992. He was the Head, Dept. of Economics from 2012 to 2018 and the Dean, Faculty of Economics and Humanities, SSSIHL, from 2016 to 2020.
His specializations are Statistics and Econometrics. He was a Visiting Scientist at Memorial University, Canada. He was an executive council member of The Indian Econometric Society and member of several professional bodies. He is a Reviewer of American Mathematical Society. He has published about 50 research papers in referred national and international journals. He has also participated, chaired and delivered invited lectures in various conferences and seminars.
