Dr. U. Suma is passionate about Consumer Behavior, Gender in Management, and Values-Based Education. She has supervised numerous MBA projects in these fields, particularly focusing on Consumer Behavior, Rural Management, and Values-Based Education. Under the mentorship of Mr. Ranjan Samantha, Head of Marketing at TVS Ltd., she conducted in-depth consumer interviews for profiling and is currently engaged in qualitative analysis of two-wheeler customer behavior.
Dr. Suma graduated with a B.Com. and B.Ed. from Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning in 1990 and continued her studies at Annamalai University, earning an M.Com. (1991-1993) and M.Ed. (1996-1997). She joined SSSIHL as a faculty member in 1998 and currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Management and Commerce.
A dedicated student herself, she received the All-Rounder Gold Medal from SSSIHL in 1990 for excellence in academics and extracurricular activities. In 2012, she was honored with the Sai Krishna Award for Excellence in Teaching by SSSIHL. She has also served as the Dean of Management and Commerce at the Institute.
Dr. Suma is currently the Chairperson of the Centre for Sri Sathya Sai Studies.
