Prof. B S Vijayakumar is a Microbial Biotechnology and Mycology & Plant Pathology expert. His expertise in the field is reflected in over 54 research publications and numerous conferences attended spread across different facets of Microbial Biotechnology. He is actively involved in research work apart from his full-time teaching duties.
At Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, he graduated with a B.Sc. in Biosciences in 1983 and his M.Sc. in Biosciences in 1985, and then went on to complete his Doctorate degree in 1988. He then joined Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning as a Lecturer in 1988. He was the Head of the Department of Biosciences from March 2014 to October 2019.

Research Interests
Extraction of metabolites from microbes from waste water and testing their potential biological activities, Biogenic synthesis of metal and metal oxide nanoparticles from endemic micro fungi, Mycoremediation, decolourisation and detoxification of significant dyes and pollutants, Characterization and studying the effect/potential of waste water microbes in waste water treatment and its potential use in Medical Applications.
